The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) distributes grant funding to over 240 community sector and other non government organisations.
In 2006-07, the DHHS will distribute approximately $122 million of funding under its Central Grant Program to enable continued provision of a range of community based services that benefit the Tasmanian community.

Payment of Accounts by DHHS
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is moving towards paying all future accounts by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and providing remittance advices by email as the preferred option. Where email remittance advice is not possible, remittances will continue to be forwarded by facsimile or post.
The benefits of EFT Payments to your Organisation will include:
- Receiving funds sooner and directly into your nominated bank account
- Payments no longer held up by delays in the mail service
- Funds are ‘cleared' by your bank immediately
- An improvement in the efficiency of your administrative process as there will be a reduction in the handling and depositing of cheques.
