Grants & Other Funding Programs

The majority of grant funding distributed by the DHHS to community sector and other non-government organisations is provided to assist long term provision of services by organisations and is administered by the Grants Unit.

Grant funding is generally not provided by the Department in response to unsolicited applications and neither does the Department conduct regular funding rounds. Any funding rounds undertaken by the Department will generally be advertised in each of the Tasmania daily papers.

From time to time, other State Government funding programs will make one-off funding available to community organisations. Information is available online regarding a number of these programs:

  • The Community Support Levy, which has regular funding rounds. For further information click here.
  • The Tasmanian Community Fund (TCF), which regularly advertises its grant funding programs in Tasmanian newspapers. For further information click here.
  • The Office of Youth Affairs Services website at www.dpac.tas.gov.au/divisions/cdd/ocya. The Office of Youth Affairs Services provides funding for youth related programs.
  • The Tasmanian Government Office (Canberra) maintains an extensive Federal Funding Database at www.dpac.tas.gov.au/divisions/tgo. This database contains summary information on approximately 400 Commonwealth Government funding programs.
