The Community Sector Salary Census 2012 has now closed for responses.
The page is for all Community Sector Organisations who are required to complete a Salary Census to receive a funding increase under the Equal Remuneration Order (ERO).
The Community Sector Salary Census 2012 will assist the Tasmanian Government in understanding the financial impact of Fair Work Australia’s ERO. The ERO is an historical decision to provide significant increases to the salaries of Social and Community Services (SACS) employees under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (SCHADS) Award.
The Salary Census has been developed in conjunction with community sector representatives. It has a number of questions related to your Tasmanian Government funding, budgeted salaries, leave liabilities and a couple of supplementary questions. It is vital that all organisations employing staff under the SCHADS Modern Award complete the Salary Census, as your funding increase will be based on the information you provide.
The Community Sector Salary Census 2012 responses will be used to work out your funding increase for the 1 December 2012-30 June 2013. The responses will also be used to project the pontential increases for the remaining eight years. Once this situation is known, the Tasmanian Government will work on a process for calculating organisation funding increases in future years. This may involve conducting regular Salary Censes or a different funding mechanism aligned with Funding Agreements.
Collection Tools and Submission
The Salary Census will commence on Monday 23 July and will close at 5pm on Wednesday 8 August 2012. Submissions must be sent by email to dhcs@dhhs.tas.gov.au. However, if you have limited internet access they can also be mailed to Kylie Dunn, Disability, Housing and Community Services, GPO Box 125, Hobart TAS 7001.
The two documents you require to allow you to complete the Salary Census are:
- Community Sector Salary Census Data Collection Tool
- Community Sector Salary Census Data Guide
- Community Sector Salary Census Scenario for Make Believe Inc
Note: It is essential that staff completing the Salary Census read through the Data Guide before attempting to answer the questions.

Further Support
The first support should be this webpage and the Data Guide. Following these, your next point of contact is your Contract Manager within DHHS, or the Agency that funds you. Since they have an understanding of your organisation they are the best people to ask about how the question applies to you.
If you cannot get in contact with your contract manager, the TasCOSS Industry Development Unit is available to answer questions during the Census period. Please call Dale Rahmanovic on 6231 0755 or 0419 557 854.
As a final option please contact the Project Manager, Kylie Dunn, on 6233 4054; noting that Kylie is running the information sessions so you will not get her on those days.
