Nursing and Allied Health

The Chief Nurse and Allied Health Group major areas of responsibility are to;

  • Provide and coordinate high level strategic advice in Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health to the Minister, Secretary, Deputy Secretaries and other stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and input into key strategic and policy issues such as;
    • Professional Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health areas
    • Safety and Quality
    • Education, training and research
    • Workforce planning and development.
    • Provide an interface with the tertiary and vocational education sectors for the education and training of nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals.
    • Represent the Department on national groups and bodies relevant to nursing, midwifery and allied health.
