Draft Legislation has been developed to support the establishment of three Tasmanian Health Organisations (THOs). THO is the name being given to Local Hospital Networks in Tasmania, for the purposes of National Health Reform.
The Tasmanian Health Organisations Bill 2011 will be the mechanism to establish THOs in Tasmania as required by the National Health Reform Agreement.
The THO legislation will establish the functions and powers of the THOs, their Governing Councils and Chief Executive Officers. It will provide for the appointment of Governing Council members and set out corporate governance requirements.
The draft legislation is available below
Public comments will be accepted up until Tuesday 6 September and can be emailed to health.reform@dhhs.tas.gov.au or alternatively posted to GPO Box 125, Hobart TAS 7001.
