A person may apply to the Board to be registered as a radiation therapist if the person has:
- a qualification in Radiation Therapy that is accredited by, or approved by, the Australian Institute of Radiography (AIR).
- passed a qualifying examination in Radiation Therapy held by the AIR.
A person may apply to the Board to be registered as a Diagnostic Radiographer if the person has:
- a qualification in Diagnostic Radiography that is accredited by, or approved by, the Australian Institute of Radiography (AIR).
- passed a qualifying examination in Radiation Therapy held by the AIR.
A person may apply to the Board to be registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist if the person has:
- a qualification in Nuclear Medicine Technology that is accredited by, or approved by, the Australia and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (ANZSNM)
- passed a qualifying examination in Nuclear Medicine held by the ANZSNM.
Applicants who have been practicing in the State or who have been registered and practicing in another state during the last five years are eligible to apply.
Applicants who have not been registered for 5 – 10 years must complete a Return to Professional Practice Program details of which can be obtained from the relevant professional body (AIR or ANZSNM). A conditional registration may be obtained to allow candidates to successfully complete a Return to Professional Practice Program.
Applicants who have been out of the profession for more than 10 years will need to retrain.
