Cancer Screening and Control Service

Cancer Screening & Control Services (CS&CS) encompasses two major population screening programs: BreastScreen Tasmania and the Cervical Cancer Prevention Program. The unit also promotes the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians through the development of policy and strategic frameworks for cancer control in Tasmania. There are links with the Australian Government's Bowel Cancer Testing Program as well. The service relies on a range of health professionals including radiologists, surgeons, pathologists, radiographers and counsellors working as a multidisciplinary team. There is a strong emphasis on quality data to ensure objectives are being met, to enable robust monitoring of the Programs and to manage recall strategies to increase participation rates in both programs.
