National Housing Reforms

The National Affordable Housing Agreement commenced on 1 January 2009. This is an overarching Agreement to improve access to affordable, safe and sustainable housing. National Partnership agreements have also been developed that are a new form of payment for specific projects, designed to drive nationally significant reform.

There are three main housing-related National Partnership agreements:

National reforms are also linked to the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan that provides funding to increase the supply of housing. The funding is contingent on substantial reforms in relation to social housing and homelessness.
