Financial Services

Financial Services provides a wide variety of financial support and advisory services to the Department’s operational units. It is primarily responsible for the provision of financial management policies and procedures, financial data integrity, improvement of financial business processes, taxation and other legislative compliance.

Financial Services consists of 5 teams; Taxation, Finance Systems, Procurement Advisory Services, Business Improvement and Finance Operations. Below is a brief description of each unit’s role within Financial Services.

Taxation: The objective of the Taxation team is to take responsibility for ensuring the Department’s compliance with all Commonwealth and State taxation requirements.

Finance Systems: The objective of the Finance Systems Team is to maintain, develop and manage the TechnologyOne financial management and information systems as the source of financial information in the Agency and support Department operational units’ use of the systems.

Procurement advisory services: Provides business advisory services to facilitate efficient and effective procurement of goods and services through the provision of procurement advice and assistance, contract review and legal support and secretarial support to the Contracts Review Committee. Procurement Advisory Services also provides advice regarding strategic issues regarding insurable risk, general contract management issues and through the Contracts Review Committee, advice on any dealings with outside parties whether procurement or otherwise.

Business Improvement: Aims to support the wider strategic objectives of the Finance and Business Performance area through continual review and improvement of Departmental finance functions.

Finance Operations: The Finance Operations Teams provide quality financial support and services to the Department Operational Units, including creditor and debtor management, data processing and banking arrangements including the Corporate Card.
