Human Services Group

The broad objective of the Human Services Group is to provide quality human services to all Tasmanians, particularly those that require additional support or assistance to live full and productive lives.

The Group consists of four Services:

By clustering these services together, the aim is to provide a cohesive and integrated range of human services within Tasmania, recognising the high degree of overlap in client groups as well as the synergies that are gained by these areas of operation working closely together.

The Group strives to embrace a culture of collective responsibility and team work that permeates the boundaries of the separate services.  While each service has separate line management structures which ensure an appropriate level of leadership and management, a unified and integrated approach is promoted across the Group and all staff work collaboratively towards common policy goals.

Office of the Deputy Secretary

A small team of staff work directly in the Office of the Deputy Secretary Human Services, providing a range of functions in support of the broad Human Services Group.  The particular focus of this area is on overarching, high level service development, change management and strategic initiatives.  Additionally, one position is responsible for representing the Group and the Agency by working with non-government organisations and community groups and facilitating the capacity of these groups to meet contractual requirements.
