Aborigional & Torres Strait Islander Employment & Career Development Strategy

The Aboriginal Employment and Career Development (AECD) Strategy aims to increase the participation of Aboriginal people in employment across the Department of Health and Human Services.

The strategy has identified a range of employment opportunities within the Agency for Aboriginal people. These include:

  • Information Technology;
  • Nursing;
  • Housing Tasmania;
  • Aged Rural and Community Health;
  • Alcohol & Drug Services; and,
  • Home and Community Care area.

A number of future opportunities were also identified in:

  • Ambulance Service;
  • Royal Hobart Hospital; and,
  • Children and Families Division.

The Office of Aboriginal Affairs administers the strategy in association with the DHHS Human Resource Service Branch.
