The Tasmanian Ambulance Service is a division of the Department of Health and Human Services.

The Tasmanian Ambulance Service operates from 44 Stations statewide with a fleet of approximately 70 Ambulance Vehicles and with a staff of approximately 450 Volunteer Ambulance Officers and 150 salaried staff.

Tasmanians living in outer urban, rural and island communities are indebted to the Volunteer Ambulance Officers who contribute a great deal, on a voluntary basis, to the provision of ambulance care and transport in Tasmania.

Volunteer Ambulance Officers provide services through 19 totally volunteer ambulance stations and through 12 ambulance branch stations supporting salaried professional staff.

Vision: To provide a world class ambulance service to the people of Tasmania.

Mission Statement: To provide a responsive, high quality emergency pre-hospital  care and specialised patient transport service which is characterised by excellence in service delivery and management, community education, investment in staff and which meet community needs.
