The North West Area Health Service’s three new General Managers have taken up their roles and are excited by the challenge ahead.
Sharon Mason: General Manager, Mersey Community Hospital and Elective Services
Sharon comes to the North West Area Health Service from New Zealand where she was Southern Area Manager for New Zealand Blood Services.
Sharon has a clinical background in nursing with extensive experience in senior health management.
Sharon says the team at Mersey have being very welcoming since she took up her post in April.
“I’m very much a people-focussed person and believe it is important to have a good level of visibility with the team,” Sharon said.
“Ultimately we are all working together to achieve the best possible outcome for our patients and the best way to achieve this is by developing relationships throughout Mersey Community Hospital, and by establishing relationships and networks with North West Regional Hospital and Primary Care,” she said.
Denise Parry: General Manager, NWRH and Acute Services
Denise relocated from New South Wales where she was Operations Manager/Director of Nursing for Mercy Health Albury.
Denise has a background as a registered nurse with considerable nursing and general management experience.
“I’ve been really impressed by the motivation levels of staff here,” Denise said.
“The staff (at North West Regional Hospital) are so enthusiastic about their job…it’s great to be working with such passionate, motivated people,” she said.
Gil Hainey: General Manager, Primary Health Services and Chronic and Complex Care
Gil has relocated from Queensland where she was Manager of Primary Health Care for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Gil also has a clinical background with considerable management experience.
“Already I can see lots of opportunity for developing best practice with innovative, community-focused service improvement,” Gill said.
“I can also see a great opportunity for engaging our community in driving and owning these improvements,” she said.
