Alcohol and Drug Service

The Tasmanian Alcohol and Drug Service provides:

  • Information;
  • Alcohol and Drug assessments;
  • Access to evidence based treatment or referral to other services;
  • Professional counselling;
  • Group work programs;
  • Methadone and other pharmacotherapy programs;
  • Residential, outpatient and home withdrawal;
  • Outreach services to non metropolitan areas;
  • Professional consultations to other service providers; and
  • Specialist reports.

Booking Information

People seeking information, advice or assessment for treatment should contact the service on the numbers provided and speak with the Response/Intake Worker.

If required, the Response/Intake will make an appointment with an experienced Alcohol and Drug Worker.

Ask the Alcohol and Drug Service about confidentiality, your rights and responsibilities and about complaints processes.

Eligibility Information

Who can access the services provided by the Alcohol and Drug Service?

  • People with a drug or alcohol problem seeking information, advice, counselling or treatment.
  • Other service providers and agencies seeking information, advice, consultations and reports.

People may self refer or specialist referrals are also accepted from doctors, hospitals, and other health/welfare professionals.

Cost Information

There is no cost for treatment and counselling. Some consultancy and reports may incur costs.
