Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer amongst Australian women. Statistics show that 1 in 9 women in Australia will develop breast cancer in their life time. The disease impacts on life expectancy, quality of life, and places high demand on early detection, treatment, support and palliative care.

There are no useful primary measures to prevent breast cancer. Early detection of breast cancer using screening mammograms has been proved to be the most appropriate public health method at this time, to attempt to reduce mortality from this disease.
