If you are a Department of Health employee, working within a hospital (including district hospitals), the Tasmanian Ambulance Service, or Palliative Care Services it is likely that you will be able to access the Department's salary packaging program.

Eligible employees may elect to take a portion of their remuneration as salary packaged payments which are free of Income Tax. Eligible employees can customise their salary package by choosing benefits that best suit individual needs, offering both convenience and the opportunity of utilising income more effectively.

  • a range of insurance
  • personal loan repayments
  • health insurance premiums
  • self education
  • school fees
  • personal HECS liability
  • mobile phones
  • personal computer
  • laptop or notebook PC
  • motor vehicle registration
  • work car parking
  • professional membership and subscriptions

Any one or combination of the above items can be included in a salary package up to a defined "grossed up" limit.
