Career Development

The DHHS encourages and supports professional development and believes it is vital in keeping our employees up-to-date and motivated. We can help you gain further skills in your chosen field or offer the flexibility to try something different.

Our managers work with you to identify and develop skills in your chosen specialty, and study and training options can be discussed as part of your personal development program. This may include on the job training, exchanges and rotation, conferences or short courses. Study leave is also available for staff pursuing further study. Our Postgraduate Loan Scheme is designed to allow employees to maintain and further develop their knowledge and skills by improving the accessibility to postgraduate courses.

Career advancement within the DHHS is based strictly on merit. We have an active equity and diversity program to ensure that people are recognised solely for the value of their work in a workplace free of harassment and discrimination. Allied health professionals’ experience, skills, qualifications and potential for development are recognised and acknowledged.
