Whether you care to spend a relaxing day sipping on premium wines at a vineyard or a wild night hitting up modern restaurants and bars, Tasmania can entertain you.
Tasmania's climate generates seasonal treats from farmlands and coastal waters that will refresh and delight any palate. The quality of its seafood, meat, cheese, fruit and vegetables is renowned in niche markets around the world, with the State exporting $445 million worth of food and beverages each year.
Wineries in distinct regions of the state produce cool-climate, varietal wines of subtle character and breweries in Hobart and Launceston have both won international awards for their premium beers.
Tasmania's cities boast a vibrant nightlife ranging from trendy modern bars and nightclubs through to more traditional pubs – many of which play host to regular live music. But if something relaxed and low key is more your scene, there are fantastic local pubs and hotels to be found in and around small towns throughout the State.
Modern cinema complexes are located in each of the State's major centres. And if Hollywood blockbusters aren't your thing, there are also smaller cinemas catering to more foreign and independent films tastes.
