The DHHS also has a close affiliation with the University of Tasmania, and offers clinical placement and support for nurses undertaking post-graduate diplomas/certificates in a number of areas.

We collaborate with the School of Nursing and Midwifery to provide a range of postgraduate courses for Registered Nurses. These courses are renowned for the extensive level of clinical knowledge and experience the student gains in the clinical speciality area.

Postgraduate courses include:

  • Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing
  • Gerontic Nursing
  • Rural/Remote Nursing
  • Acute Care Nursing
  • Critical Care Nursing
  • Emergency Care Nursing
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing
  • Midwifery
  • Paediatric Nursing
  • Child and Family Health

At completion of study, nurses receive a post-graduate allowance (Please note this only applies to nurses practicing in the area of their post-graduate training. For example, a nurse with a Diploma of Midwifery who was working in ICU would not receive an allowance).
