Grandparents (and other relatives) caring for children

Grandparents and relatives

There are a number of reasons that grandparents and other relatives take on the care of children within their family, and this is often in response to family crisis.

As of 12 July 2011, support for grandparents and other relatives who are caring for related children through informal arrangements is now provided by the new Gateways Supporting Grandparent Carers Program.

This is funded by Children and Youth Services, and available through Gateway Services across Tasmania.
