The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is part of a whole-of-government email project called Connect Email 2012.
This involves consolidation of email services so there is a single service across government, allowing a more ‘connected’ government (including sharing of calendars and address lists across agency boundaries).
The project is being led by TMD within the Department of Premier of Cabinet, which manages whole-of-government email and telephone services. Tasmanian Government agencies have been working with TMD on this project since 2010, and all email will migrate to TMD by June 2013.
Within DHHS, email migration is being staged during 2012. Some business units/groups have already migrated; others will move across in coming months. IT Services is working closely with business units and TMD to ensure a smooth transition.
All staff will receive all the information they need – including things they need to do to prepare – as their business unit gets ready to migrate.
The day-to-day use of email will continue much the same after the transition, and the IT Service Centre will remain the first point of contact for assistance with email. Your email address won’t change.
TMD and IT Services have provided a number of fact sheets to help staff before, during and after email migration.
