KPI Reporting and Measures

New Disability Funding Agreements, 1 July 2013 – 30 June 2016

Changes to Disability Funding Agreements 2013-2016 – KPIs

All new Disability Services Funding Agreements now include Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).  KPIs are a way of measuring progress towards a stated aim.

For Community Access programs – Alternatives to Work and Preparation for Retirement – KPIs are listed in either Schedule 2.1.6 or 3.1.4 and have been in use since 2010.

For all other Disability Services Agreements, KPIs are listed in Schedule 2.1.6.

The KPIs address, and are aligned with, the Consumer Outcomes listed in Schedule 2.1.4 of the Funding Agreement.  The Consumer Outcomes are taken from the Disability Services Act Tasmania 2011.

A target has also been set as a base line for beginning to measure the achievement of KPIs.

Service Providers – What does this mean for you?

While many of you will have previously used KPIs in strategic planning and in reporting against other Funding Agreements, some will have had limited exposure to KPIs, targets and reporting.

We encourage you to consider the KPIs and targets and how your service may evidence and measure its achievements.  A supplementary Fact Sheet entitled ‘Key Performance Indicators – Examples of Reporting Tools’, provides some examples of tools that may be used to measure achievement of the target.  While the information provided in the supplementary Fact Sheet is not intended to be exhaustive, it may provide you with a starting point for consideration.

Community Partnership Team (CPT) – What is the CPT’s role?

At a future service visit the CPT will discuss the KPIs, targets, reporting tools and timeframes with your service.  There will be an opportunity to negotiate some of these areas to acknowledge and respect the size and complexity of your service, and in recognition of documents and reports you may already prepare for other purposes.
