About the Program
The Tasmanian Government’s Quick Build Affordable Home Ownership Program will see the construction of up to 150 new homes across Tasmania for sale to eligible low to moderate income households. These properties will be available for sale under the Tasmanian Government’s affordable home ownership programs, HomeShare and Streets Ahead.
The first 50 Quick Build homes are under construction and now available for purchase. These homes are being built by Tasmanian construction firm Eco-Fab Pty Ltd and are assembled from steel structural components that are pre-manufactured at their Kingston factory. They are designed to be low maintenance, climate sensitive, use passive solar design principles and have a 5 Star Energy Rating.
Buying Options
HomeShare
Under HomeShare, the Tasmanian Government will share up to 25% of the cost of a home. The Director of Housing retains ownership of the Tasmanian Government share for up to 15 years, allowing the home owners to benefit from a lower initial purchase price and lower loan repayments.
HomeShare buyers will also receive a $500 contribution from the Tasmanian Government towards legal costs associated with the purchase of their home.
