Research

Gambling research is recognised under legislation as an important component of Tasmania’s Integrated Gambling Framework.

The Gambling Support Program (GSP) develops and funds research through the Community Support Levy.

In 1994 a baseline study on the Extent and Impact of Gambling in Tasmania preceded the introduction of gaming machines into the broader Tasmanian community. Impact studies are conducted regularly to monitor the social impact of gambling in Tasmania.

The (GSP) has access to a current bank of Australian and international research and information on the gambling industry, gambling patterns, problem gambling data and research, treatment, and awareness programs.
