What the Gambling Support Program Does

The Gambling Support Program acknowledges the significant input of the range of expertise represented within these groups:

Break Even Network: representatives from the funded counselling and support services for people affected by gambling – Anglicare Tasmania, Relationships Australia, Gambling and Betting Addiction Inc (G.A.B.A.) and the Gambling Helpline Tasmania. Along with the Gambling Support Program staff and a Tasmanian Gaming Commission (TGC) representative this group meets monthly to address issues related to the impact of gambling.

Gambling Industry Group: representatives from Federal Hotels, Tattersalls, Australian Hotels Association, Registered Clubs Tasmania and TOTE Tasmania. Along with invited Government officers from the TGC and the Gambling Support Program, this Group meets every six weeks to address issues in relation to responsible gambling.

Tasmanian Gambling Consultative Group: representatives from the gambling industry, the Break Even Network, TasCOSS, Interchurch Taskforce, the TGC, the Gambling Support Program and the Department of Treasury and Finance. This Group meets quarterly to address issues in relation to responsible gambling and the social impact of gambling.

Research Reference Group: representatives from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the gambling industry, TasCOSS, the TGC, DHHS, the Department of Treasury and Finance and the Gambling Support Program. This Ministerially appointed Group assesses proposals for gambling research.

Charitable Organisations Grants Advisory Group: a regional balance of representatives from the gambling industry, state and local governments and the university. This Ministerially appointed Group assesses applications for the Community Support Levy’s annual grant program.
