Minister's Disability Advisory Committee (MDAC)

The Minister’s Disability Advisory Committee (MDAC) was established in February 2007 under the framework of the Premier’s Disability Advisory Council (PDAC).

The Committee provides independent advice directly to the Minister for Health and Human Services on a range of issues affecting Tasmanians with a disability, their families and carers.

The Committee has a particular focus on specialist disability services delivered through Disability Services.

Membership of the Committee is broad ranging and includes people with a disability, clients of disability services, family members of people with a disability, carers and disability service providers.

Membership is balanced in terms of regional and gender representation.

The Committee meets at least four times per year. Regular meetings are then held with the Minister for Health and Human Services to provide advice on the issues being considered by the Committee.
