Care and Support Services for Children and Young people– Application for Funding

The Department of Health and Human Services seeks applications for funding from Community Sector Organisations to deliver Care and Support Services for children and young people in the North/North West and South West/South East of Tasmania.

Services are to be provided through a partnership, alliance, consortium or similar model between community service organisations.

The Services to be provided consist of two complimentary services:

Residential Care Services

The first is the community based provision of therapeutic residential care services for children and young people (12-17 years) under Care and Protection Orders who have challenging behaviours or high support needs.

The aim of the service is to provide young people with a therapeutic, safe, nurturing and supportive home environment in which their behaviour can be managed and modified by trained professional carers.

Targeted Youth at Risk

The second is for a targeted youth at risk program which will provide targeted intensive and therapeutic support to young people (10-17 years) who have demonstrated significant needs and risk issues for whom, without intensive support notification to child protection or entry/and or escalation within the youth justice system is likely.

Both programs have existing clients who will need to be transitioned into any new arrangements.
