Tasmania’s Health Plan is all about making sure we have a safe, sustainable and efficient health system that provides all Tasmanians with the care they need, when they need it. Services should be provided as close as possible to where people live, as long as the services can be delivered safely, effectively and at an acceptable cost.
A big focus of the Plan is integration of services so that patients experience seamless care when they move between facilities (eg. hospitals and community health centres) and health care professionals (eg. GPs, nurses and specialists).
There is also an emphasis on health and wellbeing, not just illness, and encouraging and helping people to take control of their own health.
