Orthotic Prosthetic Services Tasmania (OPST) plays an important role in the treatment and rehabilitation of clients through the provision of orthotic, prosthetic and special seating services.
Prosthetics
Prosthetics involves the fitting of custom-made Prostheses (Artificial Limb). These are designed to both look and function as near as practicable to the original limb.
The Prosthetist will provide information on the Rehabilitation process and provide assessment for the fitting of a prosthesis,then cast, fabricate, fit, align and maintain a prosthesis designed to suit the individuals needs. The Prosthetist is able to provide education to the patient and their families about the effects a Prosthesis may have on the patient.
Special Seating Clinic
The Special Seating Clinic is a team and facility within Orthotic Prosthetic Services Tasmania, which provides a service for people who have complex disabilities and require specialised seating and/or wheelchairs.
