Men's Health - Time to take control

Over the last decade there has been a growing amount of interest in the health and wellbeing of men.

Large numbers of men die early and experience illness and injury from causes that can often be prevented. Issues that affect men in particular include parenting and relationships, emotional wellbeing, injury, substance abuse, and chronic conditions like cancer, heart disease, diabetes and stroke.

However, men are becoming more and more aware of their needs and are beginning to talk about them and take control. Some simple and painless steps that men can take to ensure that they don't become a statistic include:

  • Get regular exercise
  • Eat a sensible diet that includes vegetables and fruit
  • Reduce alcohol consumption
  • Stop smoking
  • Visit a GP for a check up.
