Link Practitioners for Infection Prevention and Control

During 2009, approximately seventy link practitioners from around the state attended TIPCU training for the second year running. Workshops were held in the following locations:

  • Hobart
  • Deloraine
  • Flinders Island
  • Burnie
  • King Island
  • Swansea

The following topics were covered:

  • National Hand Hygiene Initiative – overview & resources
  • Using the Primary Health Care Audit Tool
  • Environmental Cleaning
  • Disinfection of Clinical Equipment
  • Influenza Overview
  • Outbreak Management
  • Additional Precautions
  • Personal Protective Equipment – practical
  • Specific work site issues – open discussion

Session times for the 2010 Link Practitioner Program are currently being scheduled. Topics for 2010 sessions are being considered and will include suggestions from link practitioners.
