District Hospitals and Multi purpose Centres and Services

District Hospitals and Multi purpose Centres and Services are located in rural communities throughout Tasmania. They provide a broad range of services to communities of diff ering sizes and needs. Services may include residential aged care, accident and emergency, inpatient hospital care, community care, child health, dental services, antenatal clinics, alcohol and drug services, home help/personal care, home maintenance, mental health, disability services, diabetic education services, visiting consultants, radiology, physiotherapy, podiatry, and a needle exchange program. The DHHS also helps fund a number of community and aged care facilites located throughout Tasmania.

Currently there are 15 district facilities across the state:

  • George Town District Hospital and Community Health Centre
  • North East Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Community Service Centre
  • Campbell Town Health and Community Service
  • Midlands Multi-Purpose Health Centre
  • New Norfolk District Hospital
  • St Mary’s Health Centre
  • Queenstown District Hospital
  • Ouse District Hospital
  • Deloraine District Hospital
  • Flinders Island Multi purpose Centre
