Dr. William Holman established a medical practice in Launceston, Tasmania in 1925, providing the basis for radiation oncology services in this State.
In 1952, a branch of the Peter MacCallum Clinic Melbourne) was opened in Launceston under the administration of the Victorian Cancer Institute.
The Tasmanian Government assumed responsibility for the service in 1986 and the clinic was renamed the WP Holman Clinic in memory of Dr. Holman.
The W P Holman Clinic is a modern cancer treatment centre servicing the population of Tasmania and accepting tertiary referrals.
