As part of the 125th Anniversary of the Launceston General Hospital celebrations in 1988 an historical display was mounted consisting of memorabilia and a wide ranging photographic display. So extensive were the items that it was decided to form a committee to preserve and display from time to time some of the items in storage.
Over the years the collection has grown and with regionalisation of health services the collection now takes in the District Hospitals in the Norther Region of Health. The committee meets on an irregular regular basis dependent on what projects are being planned.
