Better Housing Futures

NEW:

How did you hear about
Better Housing Futures?

A change is happening to social housing. It is called Better Housing Futures.

It is a new way of providing social housing services in Tasmania.

It is managed by community housing organisations.

It gives tenants the choice of landlord.

It will be better housing.

Better Housing Futures has started.

MA Housing opened their doors in Rokeby and Clarendon Vale on 18 March 2013.

We are now ready to start Better Housing Futures Stage 2 in other suburbs statewide.

Suburbs participating in Stage 2 are:

  • South: Bridgewater, Gagebrook and Herdsmans Cove
  • North: Ravenswood, Waverley, Rocherlea, Mayfield and Mowbray
  • North West: Somerset, Shorewell Park, Acton, West Ulverstone, East Devonport and Latrobe

New community housing organisations will be ready to start in these suburbs early in 2014.

The Tasmanian Government is committed to providing quality, sustainable social housing for Tasmanians on low incomes.

Better Housing Futures is a critical step in making social housing better for people who need it most.

Community housing is the new way of providing social housing to people who need housing assistance.

Community housing organisations can provide improved housing because they have more ways of funding their housing services.

Better Housing Futures will provide a new approach and new services that community housing organisations have to offer including more maintenance.
