Buying or selling a home can seem complicated, especially if it's your first time, but a range of information and help is available from the following places:

First Home Buyers
The First Home Owner Grant is a one-off grant that aims to assist people to purchase their first home. A Duty Concession is also available for first home buyers. More information on both these schemes is available on the State Revenue Office website.
Tasmanians on low-incomes
Housing Tasmania is also able to help low income Tasmanians to purchase a home of their own. There are three different forms of assistance:
- Streets Ahead - incentive program – includes $6,000 deposit assistance to buy a home from the Director of Housing.
- HomeShare - sharing home ownership with the Director of Housing by:
- buying a home in the open market.
- Shared Equity
