Private Rental

In Tasmania, many people rent property in either the public or private rental sector. There are a range of services available to assist you with your rental needs. These services may provide accommodation, advocacy or support, information and/or financial assistance.

Private rental accommodation can be found through the classified pages of the Tasmanian newspapers and/or by contacting real estate agents who can be located in the telephone book.

Low-income Tasmanians may be eligible for rent assistance from Centrelink for further information on the Commonwealth Rent Assistance (CRA) click here, or for bond or rent assistance through the Private Rental Support Scheme.

Rental via a number of Community Housing providers is also an option for people on low incomes or with particular support needs. Click here for further information.

Public rental is available to eligible low income Tasmanians.
