Mental Health Act Review
A review of the Mental Health Act formally commenced in October 2006. Since then, the review has involved the development of an Issues Paper (April 2007) and a Discussion Paper (August 2007).
Both documents were released for public consultation and generated significant feedback.
As a result of the feedback received, a new Mental Health Act is currently being developed.
It is intended that the draft legislation, once developed, will be publicly released for a six week period to enable interested persons and key stakeholders to further contribute to the review process.
