The Jasmine Unit is a secure ten bed unit located within the Roy Fagan Centre in Lenah Valley, Hobart.

The Roy Fagan Centre is a specialised centre to assess and treat older persons.

Referral is made from the Royal Hobart Hospital to the Jasmine Unit for treatment and care.

What you should bring

As a guide we recommend:

  • non-slip, good fitting shoes
  • easy-fit day clothes
  • comfortable nightwear
  • toiletries
  • any walking aids.

We ask that you do not bring valuables to the Jasmine Unit as they cannot be secured for you.

Your care

During admission to the Jasmine Unit you, your family member, carer or advocate will be consulted about your care. This will include assessment, treatment and discharge plans.

Discharge is coordinated with you, your family or carer and referral to appropriate community services will be arranged. A home visit may be conducted before you are discharged.

Your Doctor (GP) will receive a letter from our treating team advising of your treatment and medication.

On discharge you will receive one months supply of medication. An account will be issued with this medication.

Visiting and Leave

The staff may recommend how often visits occur depending on your care plan.

Meal times daily are breakfast 8:30 am,  lunch 1:00 pm and dinner 5:00 pm.

Daily visiting hours are:

  • 10:00 am to 12:30 pm
  • 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
  • 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Parking is available on site at the Roy Fagan Centre. There are limited spaces, please see reception staff to obtain a parking permit. We ask that you observe all parking restrictions as per signage.

Day or overnight leave may be arranged by talking to your treating team.

Fees

Fees will apply if you receive care for more than 35 days within the Tasmanian Health Service and are no longer acutely unwell. Fees are based on each individual situation.

Facilities and Transport

Your laundry can be done on site by staff if you wish. We ask that your name be placed on all clothing.

Staff will organise transport if you need to attend medical appointments during your stay.

Staff or family may arrange transport for you on discharge depending on your individual situation.
