Recognised School Leader - Gary Pennicott

Move Well Eat Well is celebrating its 10th Year in schools and is recognising school staff that have been significant supporters of the program.

Gary was nominated for the 7 years he has led Move Well Eat Well at Glenorchy Primary School.

Gary has:

  • Led the schools integrated Health and Wellbeing community steering committee to ensure that the school stays "on track" the ongoing school improvement agenda
  • Initiated the school’s involvement with MWEW and ensured ongoing commitment and improvement
  • Supported all staff to be champions for MWEW
  • Led the schools "Positive Action Committee" which guides school actions in relation to holistic health and wellbeing
  • Directly initiated and facilitated school events and activities.

He is a great MWEW Leader because he is:

  • Positive, determined and passionate about making a real difference to the health and wellbeing of our learners and their families.
  • Hardworking, empathetic and leads by example
  • Courageous in his leadership and will 'call out’ things that may not be best practice and advocate for ongoing improvement
  • Committed and encourages the participation of many at our school.

Overall Gary has; assisted schools to get Move Well Eat Well started, helped schools maintain their Move Well Eat Well Award, advocated for healthy eating and physical activity at schools and promoted Move Well Eat Well messages in school communities.
