A new supported accommodation service for young mothers and mothers-to-be in the Launceston area was launched on September 13.
The Young mums ní bubs service will encourage positive self-development and parenting skills for young mums and mums-to-be aged 16 and 19 years.
Young mums ní bubs will help look after child and maternal health, develop parenting and personal skills and provide these young people with a secure home.
The medium to long-term accommodation service is a joint initiative between Karinya and UnitingCare, with Housing Tasmania providing up to eight units.
Karinya will manage tenancy and UnitingCare will make its family support programs available to the tenants.
The Clarendon Childrenís Foundation is funding the program.
Young mums ní bubs tenants will sign 12-month tenancy leases with Housing Tasmania, Karinya and UnitingCare with the ultimate aim of transitioning to a standard public housing lease with Housing Tasmania.
