Approved Food Safety Regulatory Auditors
In line with new national food laws the Tasmanian Food Act 2003 requires certain food businesses to establish a food safety program in order to adequately manage food safety risks. These food businesses must also arrange for an audit to be undertaken at least annually in order to determine whether the food safety program has been complied with during the period covered by the audit, and that the program remains effective in managing those risks.
The Food Act requires that audits of food safety programs must be conducted by an approved food safety auditor certified as competent to conduct an audit of the business. A new food safety auditor approval system has been established to ensure that food safety auditors are appropriately qualified and that they are able to conduct themselves in a reputable manner. As food safety auditors are approved, their names and contact details will be progressively published on this web site thereby enabling food businesses to select a suitably qualified person to conduct food safety audits.
Persons wishing to become approved food safety auditors in Tasmania must apply to the Department for approval on the form headed ‘Application for Approval as a Food Safety Auditor’ which is also available via the link below.
