Oncology Services Boost

The Mersey Community Hospital has expanded its Oncology services from three to five days a week, allowing more cancer patients in the North West to be treated locally.

The number of patients receiving chemotherapy at the hospital will increase by around 50% to more than 30 each week.

This has been made possible through the recruitment of additional staff and increase in Outpatient Clinic sessions.

It’s an important improvement which will avoid the need for regular round trips to Launceston and Burnie for many patients from the local area who are undergoing chemotherapy.
