Welcome to North West Area Health Service

The North West Area Health Service (NWAHS) was established in October 2008 to integrate primary and secondary health care services in the region. The initiative has been led by Chief Executive Officer Jane Holden and covers the North West Regional Hospital, Mersey Community HospitalandPrimary Healthservices in the region.

While the three remain separate facilities, they have a common purpose of working together to better meet the needs of our patients-clients and to improve the health outcomes for our community.

People’s medical needs are often complex which is why our focus is on improving communication and using the latest technology to increase access to quality health care. We are taking an innovative and collaborative approach to sustainable health services in the region.

We are also involving the community in the planning and development of services by establishing the North West Area Health Service Network Advisory Group. The group is made up of representatives from a broad range of areas including health professionals, local government and consumer representatives.

The purpose of the group is to provide a communication forum for local health issues; assist in prioritisation of local health investment needs; and to foster participation in consultation on programs in the North West.

The NWAHS has a clear set of goals and priorities for the coming year which can be viewed via this link. You can also visit the North West Regional Hospital, Mersey Community Hospital or Primary Health sites by clicking on the links located on this page.
