Discussion and Options Paper for Safe and Healthy Food in Tasmania

Discussion and Options Paper for Safe and Healthy Food in Tasmania

In October 2014, Population Health Services invited input into the development of a Discussion and Options Paper for Safe and Healthy Food in Tasmania.

Over 50 people from various parts of the community provided input through an online survey and/or consultation forums that were held in Launceston and Hobart. Along with a review of the literature regarding best practice policy for safe and healthy food, feedback from this process is being drafted into a Discussion and Options Paper for Safe and Healthy Food in Tasmania.

It is our intention to make available the draft Discussion and Options Paper for Safe and Healthy Food in Tasmania in  March 2015.

This paper will help identify priorities and explore options, potential partners and capacity for future work. The scope includes food for human consumption, nutrition and health outcomes and some aspects of food distribution. It excludes issues around agricultural productivity and practices, irrigation and water resources, economic development in the food industry, and the production, distribution and consumption of alcohol.
