Hobart Women's Shelter provides crisis accommodation and support for women who experience homelessness and domestic violence.
We offer:
- Emergency accommodation for up to 6 weeks. During this time we provide assistance and advocacy to support women and children as they arrange longr-term accommodation.
- Fully furnished and equipped 2 and 3 bedroom safe houses
- An experienced support worker to provide case management addressing any concerns such as parenting issues, leagl issues, physical and mental health issues, drug and alcohol issues
- Referrals and advocacy with other services such as counselling, legal help, family law court, health services, transitional support services, transport, schools. We also assist with arranging and attending some of these appointments.
- Support for women, children and young people as they deal with their feelings about the changes and difficulities they have experienced
- Individual and group information and social sessions.
Eligibility:
Referral not necessary. Women 18+ and their children up to the age of 21.
Cost Information:
If a woman is receiving income, rent is charges at 30%. The resident is responsible for electricity and telephone costs. A small bond is payable but returned at the end of the accommodation period (conditions apply).
Opening Hours:
Office operates from 9.00am to 5.00pm with after hours emergency on-call.
