Establishment Allowance

The Establishment Allowance is a contribution towards the costs of setting up accommodation arrangements to meet the child's needs on their arrival to live with a relative carer.  This will normally involve the provision of basic items for the child such as furniture, bedding, towels, sheets, study desk, clothing, and age appropriate toys and equipment.

Relatives Allowance recipients will only receive the Establishment Allowance for a child once.  Reapplications for Relatives Allowance for the same child will not attract an Establishment Allowance.  That is, when a child moves in and out of a placement with a relative carer, the Establishment Allowance will only be paid on the first placement with that relative carer.
