Paediatric Audiology Service
The Statewide Audiology Service provides hearing assessments for infants and children of all ages.
Services are available at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Launceston General Hospital, as well as in Burnie and Devonport.
Adult Audiology Service
Audiological assessment is provided to adults at the Royal Hobart Hospital only. A referral from a hospital doctor is required.
Cochlear Implant Program
The medical aspects of cochlear implantation, including surgery, are provided in Melbourne, at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.
Patients can however access the allied health components of their care, including assessment, programming (MAPping) of the implant and long-term support in Tasmania.
Cochlear implant services are available at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Launceston General Hospital as well as in Burnie and Devonport.
Referrals are accepted from doctors and allied health professionals.
If a patient wishes to complete a full medical assessment at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, a referral from a doctor will be required.

Service Eligibility
Hearing can be assessed at any age, even the day a baby is born.
