The Australian Government through its Seniors website provides a wide variety of information about housing options for seniors. Some other options include:

• Local government senior citizens accommodation - some councils manage units which provide aged residents on low incomes with another accommodation option.
  
• Retirement Villages - the Seniors website provides useful information about retirement villages such as the types of villages, level of care, costs and legislative requirements. The Consumer Affairs and Fair Trading website also contains useful information if you are thinking of moving into a retirement village including a checklist to help you decide if a particular village is the right place for you.
  
• Group Housing - organisations such as Abbeyfield Society provide appropriate affordable group housing for older persons seeking companionship and support in a community in which they have links.
  
• Independent Living Units - for more information about these units please see Rental Accommodation.
  
• Veterans - The Department of Veterans Affairs provides a range of housing services for Veterans.
