Staying Put

Anglicare's Staying Put program provides tenancy outreach support and advocacy services for young people on low incomes.

Anglicare is funded by Housing Tasmania to provide a range of support services which are designed to:

• Assist young people to maintain their accommodation within the private and public rental market;
• Support young people to develop the skills to maintain their tenancy;
• Improve awareness of tenant's rights and responsibilities;
• Increase information and understanding within the community of issues affecting young people living in rental accommodation;
• Assist in providing stable tenancies for those young people living in the Direct Tenancy complexes;
• Assist in supporting clients to make regular and timely payment of rent; and
• Reduce levels of rent arrears.

The Service is managed from the office of 406-408 Main Road, Glenorchy, Tasmania 7010 and covers the geographical region of Southern Tasmania.

The Service targets people under the age of 25, with primary responsibility to people between the ages of 16 and 19 years who:

• Are living in public or private rental properties;
• Meet the financial requirements of public housing eligibility criteria;
• Live independently or semi-independently without family or other support; and
• Require assistance to develop skills to maintain their tenancy.
